about

During the 2020 and 2021 lockdowns I explored a beautiful idea with my friend and bandmate Johannes Sigl. We met regularly for free improvised jam sessions and occasionally invited one or two of our friends from the Tyrolean scene to join us.
Our intention was to make sincere and intimate music which – before all else – was meant to happen and live in those particular moments, without any pressure of having to fulfill anybody’s expectations. Still, we recorded every session, just in case. While listening to these recordings we all agreed that some (or at least, parts of them) were really worth being brought to a broader audience’s ears.
So I selected segments from various sessions done in the drumless trio format – I enjoy this chamber music setting because it offers the possibility of musical nuances that otherwise couldn’t really happen.
The duos with Walter Singer are special to me because we have known each other for so many years, have played in various ensembles together and have similar backgrounds.
The solo tune is basically a musical meditation over a John Lennon song I quite recently did for a local radio station. I thought it would be a good opening piece and added some overdubs – although most of the music from the current version comes from the original improvisation.

Some of the recorded music, like beautiful duos with Johannes Sigl or louder and wilder trios with drums (performed by Flo Baumgartner, Lukas Laimer or Georg Tausch) will be released in the future, while we have plans for playing and recording some new music this winter.

Hope you have fun listening either to a single session or to the whole collection (which I would highly recommend!) – as we had fun creating it.
Turn on, tune in, … preferably using good headphones ;-)
